A quiet evening in the bedroom

On the lowest level the sound is under 32 dB(A) according to Xiaomi. Put it on the bedside table or the floor and turn the nozzles away from the bed and wall so the mist spreads through the room.

Let the app hold the level

Auto mode is switched on in the Mi Home app and keeps the humidity at 60 %. If the air gets too humid it slows down, and above 85 % for more than 30 minutes it switches off – so windows and furniture don't get wet.

A big tank, easy to clean

The 4.5-litre tank has a wide opening that makes it easy to wipe out, and a clear window shows the water level. Fill from the top day to day, and lift the tank out when it's time to clean it.

Product FAQ

Will there be white dust?

There can be. Ultrasonic humidifiers spread minerals from the water, and with hard tap water a fine white dust can settle around the unit. Aim the mist away from furniture and electronics and clean the tank regularly.

Can I put scented oil in the water?

No. It has a separate aroma tray for essential oils (not sold here). Never pour oil into the water tank or base – it can damage the unit.

Is the mist warm?

No, the mist is cool and the water isn't heated. Still, place it steadily, out of reach of small children, and unplug it before lifting off the tank.

What humidity should I aim for?

Indoors, 40–60 % relative humidity usually feels comfortable. With the radiators on in winter, indoor air can drop to 20–30 %. Set the level you want and let the humidity sensor do the work – above 60 % is rarely needed and can cause condensation on cold windows.

How do I clean it?

Empty the water and let the parts dry when you're not using it. Clean the tank and cotton filter about once a week as the manual describes – with water and a soft brush, and descale when needed. Never leave old water standing for days.

An affordable ultrasonic humidifier for the bedroom. Xiaomi Smart Humidifier 2 emits up to 350 ml/h of cool mist, and the 4.5-litre tank lasts up to 32 hours on the lowest level according to Xiaomi.

The water passes a UV-C lamp before it becomes mist. The mist comes out of two ring-shaped nozzles that rotate 360°, so you can aim it away from furniture and walls. The water isn't heated.

You fill it from the top without lifting the tank, or lift it out for cleaning. In the Mi Home app you switch on auto mode, which keeps the humidity at 60 % and slows down if the air gets too humid, and set the timer and level. It switches off when the tank is empty or lifted off.

This is an ultrasonic humidifier: with hard water, white dust can settle on surfaces around it. Clean the tank regularly and replace the cotton filter when needed – two spares are included.
