I have a significant amount of slate flooring with a few rugs. I wasn't exactly sure how this would go with the Shark, but hoovering then having to mop was a real pain which I was sick of as every crumb shows on the dark polished slate. Anyway, can say that my little vacuum/mop robot is honestly one of the best things ever (so far & fingers crossed). Cleans brilliantly and am absolutely delighted.

It takes about an hour to clean the whole flat, and the battery easily lasts through the full clean without running out. Setup was very simple, and it's fully automated, which makes everyday cleaning effortless. It works brilliantly on all our flooring – wooden floors, carpets, and tiles – and even handles thicker carpets really well. It's also not noisy, which is a big plus. The UV technology is an added bonus, and overall the cleaning performance is excellent. Definitely a great investment if you want to keep your home clean with minimal effort!

I'm just a few days in, so we're still adjusting, but the set up was easy and the mapping was accurate. I need to play around with the scheduling, but it cleans well so far. The mopping is very excellent. I don't think we've required too much in the way of big mess detection but it makes multiple passes over everything and doesn't miss. It's very quiet and doesn't get stuck under furniture with legs, so I'd say its manoeuvrability is great. I should have bought one years ago, but glad there's better technology and lovelier design these days.

What's the difference between white and black?

Only the colour. The robot, base and features are the same.

What does the UV light do?

It makes dried-in stains that are hard to see with the naked eye visible to the robot, so it can target its mopping there. It's a way to find stains, not a disinfection of the floor.

What's included?

Robot, base, one mop pad, two side brushes, one Anti-Odour cartridge and a 355 ml bottle of Shark VacMop floor cleaner.

Do I need the app?

The robot starts with the button on top, but maps, schedules, room select and no-go zones are set in the free SharkClean app. It needs 2.4 GHz wifi.

Description

Shark's first robot with UV light. UV StainDetect lights up dried-in stains that are hard to see – spills, paw prints and the like – and the robot then mops right there. HyperSonic mopping scrubs the floor, and Wet EdgeDetect reaches out to the edges.

The ThermaCharged NeverTouch Pro base handles the upkeep: it empties the robot into a bagless container for up to 60 days, refills the water tank, washes the mop pad with 85 °C water and dries it with 80 °C air, according to Shark. The robot picks up and drops off the mop pad on its own.

Eight PowerDetect features steer the cleaning, including DirtDetect, FloorDetect, EdgeDetect and object detection, and NeverStuck takes it over thresholds. According to Shark the battery lasts up to 3 hours on hard floors. Maps, schedules and rooms are set in the SharkClean app.
