Rugs first, floors after

Mop and rug don't mix well. Saros 10R can leave its mops in the dock, vacuum the rugs first and then fetch the mops and mop the rest of the floor. On short-pile rugs the mops lift up to 22 mm.

A dock that does the boring bits

The dock washes the mops with 80 °C hot water, senses when they're extra dirty and washes longer, dries them with warm air and empties the dust into a bag. You top up clean water and empty the dirty water.

Sees without a turret

Instead of a spinning laser on top, Saros 10R uses a 3D sensor and a camera at the front. That's why it's only 7.98 cm tall and gets under furniture where other robots stop, and it sees obstacles even in poor light.

    We owned a Roborock S5 before, which was also very good, but this one handles obstacles on a whole different level. We hardly need to clear anything off the floor – Saros finds its way around anyway. The feature where it leaves the mop behind and vacuums first is very good. The charging station, which also empties the dustbin and refills water, works very well too.

    Roborock Saros 10R cleans well but needs a bit of fine-tuning. There are lots of settings to play with. At first it left strips of debris about 7 cm from thresholds and rug edges. You can, however, set it to lower itself at rug edges, and that solves the problem. Another issue is that it drops the mop pads when they get caught on cables. So I'll have to keep my cables a bit tidier from now on. On the plus side, it cleans very thoroughly and it's fairly flat, so it gets under sofas and beds where it's otherwise hard to clean.

    Super happy 😃 the floors are so clean, and it handles the rugs brilliantly. I've set it to do the rugs first without the mops on, but it had no problems doing the rugs with the mops in place either. Even friends say: what clean floors. We should probably get one of those. 😊

    The best vacuum we've had! We're very happy with the results from this machine. It does the job perfectly and we haven't noticed any problems at all since we plugged it in. The only thing I haven't quite sorted out is how much water it should use. I find it needs refilling and changing a bit too often. But maybe that doesn't matter given the results. We have wooden floors and get that freshly cleaned feeling every day.

    I'm really happy with the vacuuming. I haven't tried the mopping function yet because I'm looking for a setting where you can switch it off completely, since parquet floors shouldn't be mopped too often. It cleans very well under our sofas, which are quite low, under 9 cm.

How does the 3D sensor differ from ordinary LiDAR?

According to Roborock, Saros 10R uses a 3D ToF sensor with no mechanical rotation, together with an RGB camera and a side laser. That makes the robot lower (7.98 cm) with navigation as precise as with a LiDAR turret.

What does the automatic mop removal do?

The robot can take off its mops and leave them in the dock when it's going to vacuum rugs, and put them back on when it's going to mop. You don't have to do it by hand.

Does it work with 5 GHz Wi-Fi?

No, Saros 10R only supports 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi. Most routers broadcast both bands.

Does the dock need a water connection?

No. The dock has a clean-water tank and a dirty-water tank that you fill and empty by hand.

Description

Saros 10R is a flat robot – 7.98 cm tall – that navigates without a spinning LiDAR turret. Instead it sees the room with a 3D sensor, an RGB camera and a side laser, which lets it get under low sofas and beds and still find its way around obstacles.

Two rotating mops scrub the floor, and when the robot is to vacuum rugs it leaves the mops in the dock so the rugs stay dry. The side brush and mop reach out to edges and into corners, and the main brush is built so hair doesn't tangle.

The chassis can lift and, according to Roborock, climbs double thresholds of up to 4 cm and gets out of U-shaped furniture legs. On long-pile rugs the mops lift up to 22 mm.

The dock washes the mops with 80 °C hot water, dries them with 55 °C warm air, empties the dust and refills water. According to Roborock the battery charges in 2.5 hours. The robot can be controlled by voice ("Hello Rocky") or in the app; it only supports 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi.
