Food stays dry

Sandwiches, cheese and cold cuts sit in the Dry Zone drawer – cold, but away from meltwater. Drinks and ice go above, and you never need extra watertight boxes for the food.

The moulded handles make it easy to lift the cooler in and strap it down in the car, motorhome or trailer.

Close it with one hand

The latch opens and closes with one hand and keeps the lid tight. If you want to lock it there's room for a padlock (sold separately).

Keeps stuff cold really well, as long as you fill it with enough ice or cooler packs. One-handed opening, the cooler drawer and the drain hole are the killer features which make it excellent. The divider/chopping board is also a smart idea, although it stops my large ice packs fitting in horizontally, so I haven't been using it much. I'm becoming a bit of a Ninja fanboy at the minute – everything I get from them I love, always smart design and good quality.

We bought this for camping in our roof tent. There was still ice in it after 2 days – very impressed. Lesson learnt: do not put chocolate in the box as it comes out solid 😂. The tray at the bottom is great as stuff is kept very cold and easy to get to. It holds a lot more than you think. Really impressed with this, but it is big, so make sure it will fit in your car with everything else you are packing.

Bought the FrostVault for festivals and camping. Only used once so far for a 4-night festival. It didn't disappoint. It stood up to a heatwave. I looked online for tips on maintaining temperature, pre-cooled the box overnight with a "sacrificial" bag of ice and made sure I had at least 7 kg of ice in to start. Much of the ice had melted, but the water was ice cold, there were still chunks of ice left and the dry storage was still cold when we were heading home on day 5. Next time I'll freeze larger chunks of ice such as bottles to reduce melt, but as a trial run I was impressed by its performance. I'd definitely recommend it – in fact I already have to friends and family.

How does the Dry Zone drawer work?

The cold from the ice transfers to a separate drawer below the lid. Food there stays cold and dry, under 4.5 °C according to Ninja, and you can reach it without opening the lid or digging through the ice.

How long does the ice last?

Ice retention is based on Ninja's lab test (the cooler filled with ice and closed). How long the ice lasts for you depends on the heat, the sun, how often you open it and how much ice you put in. Pre-chilling the box before packing helps.

Can I lock it?

Yes. The lid and drawer have a latch, and the lid can be locked with a padlock (sold separately).

Can you sit on it?

Yes. The heavy-duty build means the cooler also works as an extra seat at the campsite or on the beach.

How fast will it arrive, and can I change my mind?

Cold drinks and dry food in the same cooler. Ninja FrostVault 28 has a separate Dry Zone drawer where food stays cold and dry, out of the meltwater – and you can get to it without opening the lid.

The 28 litre capacity holds up to 48 cans without ice or 26 cans with ice. According to Ninja's lab test it keeps ice for up to five days. Up to 7 cm of insulation and a tight-sealing lid keep the cold in, and the water drains out through a drain plug.

The heavy-duty build takes rough handling and also works as a seat. Moulded handles make it easy to lift in and strap down in the car, and the latch closes with one hand. The lid can be locked with a padlock (sold separately).

For camping, the beach, the boat, the barbecue and long car trips.
