Built to fly close

The fixed guard around the propellers makes Flip calm to have near people and trees, and you can catch it in the air when you land. The guard sits in a light frame and folds together with the arms, so the drone becomes compact enough to take on every outing.

Footage that handles evening light

The large sensor and f/1.7 aperture let in plenty of light. You get 48 MP stills, 4K/100 fps for slow motion and vertical 2.7K that fits straight on your phone. With 10-bit D-Log M you have room to grade it yourself.

The basic kit with DJI RC 2 has one battery and everything you need to get airborne. The Fly More Combo has three batteries, a charging hub that charges them in turn and a shoulder bag.

Product FAQ

Do I need to register or get a drone licence?

DJI Flip is class C0. Because it has a camera, you must register as a drone operator with the Swedish Transport Agency (Transportstyrelsen) and label the drone with your operator ID before you fly. No training is required for C0, but read the manual and follow the open-category rules: max 120 m altitude, visual line of sight and never over crowds. Always check where you may fly, for example near airports and in nature reserves, and respect other people's privacy when filming.

Can I fly without the controller?

Yes. You can launch from your hand and use the built-in modes, or control it with the DJI Fly app on your phone over Wi-Fi at short range. For longer flights you use DJI RC 2.

Can it handle rain or wind?

Flip is not waterproof, so do not fly in rain or snow. It is light, and in strong winds it is better to wait – the app warns you when the wind is too strong.

Which memory card do I need?

Flip has 2 GB of internal storage. Use a fast microSD card (UHS-I U3/V30) to record in 4K.

Can I take the batteries on a plane?

The batteries are lithium batteries (DJI Flip Intelligent Flight Battery). Under 100 Wh they can normally travel in hand luggage, but not in checked baggage. Discharge them to about 30 %, protect the terminals and always check your airline's rules before you travel.

DJI Flip is the drone you actually bring along. It weighs 249 g, folds into a small package and has fixed guards around all four propellers – so you can launch it from your palm and let it fly close to you without feeling nervous.

The camera sits on a 3-axis gimbal with a 1/1.3-inch sensor, 48 MP stills and 4K/60 fps HDR or 4K/100 fps video for slow motion. You can shoot vertical 2.7K for your phone and record in 10-bit D-Log M when you want to grade yourself.

Flip follows you with ActiveTrack, makes ready-made clips with MasterShots and QuickShots, and brakes automatically using its 3D infrared sensors. With DJI RC 2 you see the live view on the controller's screen, and flight time is up to 31 minutes per battery according to DJI.
