Pour in a cold drink with sugar – squash, juice or soda – and choose a programme. The machine chills and stirs until it turns into slush, with no ice to water it down.

Self-service with the handle

Put the glass under the spout and pull the handle. Kids can do it themselves, and the drip tray catches the spills.

Chills all round

The liquid circulates around a chilling cylinder, and the compressor then holds the temperature so the texture stays right.

Very easy to use thanks to the pre-programmed settings. You can also adjust the consistency as you go depending on the sugar and alcohol content. Relatively quick, rarely over 30 minutes even at full volume. Super easy to clean. Just pour warm water into the container with the rinse mode on, and after a minute you can pour it out, rinse and leave it to dry. A faint humming sound while it runs, but it has never bothered us since it doesn't drown out the chatter in the room.

Love, love, love this product. We have been experimenting with different flavours and got some great combinations. I write them in a book so it's easy to use them again. Bought it for the summer but we use it all the time. Grandchildren love it. It is so easy to take apart, clean and put back together (remember to empty it first – I didn't and made a mess, but all was good). It has a little plastic circle on the side which holds the tray when not in use – good idea. I would recommend this product.

A nice little gadget – well, not exactly little, and it is heavy, so find a suitable place to store it. That being said, it does the job. It did take us a few adjustments on the settings to get the consistency right for us, and once we had mastered the settings it produces some amazing results, and it is easy to clean.

Amazing slushy machine and I haven't used it to its full capability yet. I've made watermelon and mint slushi and also apple and elderflower. Getting used to understanding how cold to set it to get the perfect texture, but at least you can adjust if it's too icy or too watery. Next will be doing an iced latte, so wish me luck!

No. You pour in the liquid and the machine chills it itself – the drink isn't watered down.

Does it work with sugar-free drinks?

No. According to Ninja, the liquid must contain sugar or a sugar alternative to become slush.

How long does it take?

According to Ninja 15–60 minutes depending on ingredients, volume and starting temperature. Fridge-cold liquid is quicker.

How big is it?

According to Ninja 16.6 × 41.4 × 42.9 cm (W × D × H) and 11 kg. It is heavy – choose a permanent spot on the worktop.

Description

Pour in squash, juice or cold coffee, choose a programme and wait. Ninja SLUSHi freezes the liquid into slush without ice and without blending, so the flavour isn't watered down.

The container holds 2.5 l (max 1.9 l of liquid) and makes more than seven servings according to Ninja. It takes 15–60 minutes depending on ingredients, volume and starting temperature, after which the compressor keeps the drink frozen for up to twelve hours according to Ninja.

Five programmes: Slush, Frozen Juice, Frappé, Milkshake and Frozen Cocktail. Use the handle to fill the glass directly, and the rinse programme makes cleaning easy.

For summer parties, kids' parties and cosy Friday nights – or an iced frappé on a warm afternoon.
