What is the difference between the versions?
The disc version has a built-in disc drive and 1 TB of storage. The Digital Edition has no disc drive and 825 GB; games are bought and downloaded in PlayStation Store. Sony’s disc drive for PS5 can be fitted to the Digital Edition later.
Can I play my PS4 games?
Yes, the PS5 plays a large selection of compatible PS4 games. Games on disc need a console with a disc drive.
Is a vertical stand included?
No, according to Sony the vertical stand is sold separately. The console can lie flat straight away.
Do I need PlayStation Plus?
Not to play on your own. Online play in most games requires PlayStation Plus (sold separately).
Will it keep playing discs in the future?
Yes, the discs you already own keep working. According to Sony, new PlayStation games will only be sold digitally from January 2028, but disc games released before then can still be played.
Is it an original Sony product?
Yes, it is Sony’s own console in its original packaging.

PlayStation 5 Slim is the slimmer version of the PS5, with the same power as before in a smaller body that fits even in a tight TV bench. The fast SSD means games start and load new levels in seconds, and the included DualSense controller lets you feel the game through haptic feedback and adaptive triggers.
Choose the version with a disc drive (1 TB) if you want to play games on disc and watch films on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray, or the Digital Edition (825 GB) if you buy your games in PlayStation Store. The Digital Edition can be fitted with Sony’s disc drive later.
The console plays PS5 games and a large selection of PS4 games, and works with accessories for the CFI-2000 model group, such as console covers and the vertical stand.
