When the radiators dry out the air

In winter, indoor humidity can drop to 20–30 %. You notice it in static in your jumper, dry houseplants and air that feels harsh. HU2510 is made for a bedroom, child's room or home office: put it on a table or the floor, fill it and let it work.

Fill it straight under the tap

Lift off the top and fill the 2-litre tank. With a full tank it runs up to 10.5 hours on low speed according to Philips, and it switches itself off when the water runs out – a light shows when it's time to refill.

Evaporation instead of mist

The water is soaked up by a filter and the fan blows room air through it. The moisture evaporates naturally and isn't visible. According to Philips' tests there are no wet patches and no white dust around the unit, and the water is never heated.

My office has low humidity, about 25–30 %. With the Philips HU2510 humidifier the room stays at 40–42 % on the normal speed. On the turbo setting I can get up to 50 %, and turbo is also good if the humidity has dropped after a few hours switched off and I want to bring it back up quickly. I'm very happy with my product.

Evaporates water efficiently in tiny nano droplets, so the surface underneath doesn't get wet like with my previous units. Two power settings, the lower one so quiet you can keep it on in the bedroom at night. Switches itself off when the water runs out. I've already bought another one for the living room.

I've had several humidifiers and this is the best one. No visible vapour that damages the furniture. I keep it in the bedroom, and when you put it in night mode it makes absolutely no sound.

Quiet, easy to clean (once a week is enough!). It does what it promises, i.e. humidifies the air without wetting surfaces. In frosty weather the indoor air is clearly more pleasant.

Suitable size, easy to use and fill. Two different speeds are a plus. It works well, and no damp surfaces are left on the floor or table. Quiet. I recommend it.

Easy to use, easy to fill. Admittedly the max mark is almost impossible to see, so I drew a line with a thick black marker. That solved it for me. Works well, quiet, two speeds. I fill two litres in the morning and about one litre in the evening. It stands among my plants – they love it, green and beautiful even in the middle of winter.

Product FAQ

How big a room can it handle?

Philips states rooms up to 31 m². In a large open-plan living room it won't raise the humidity as much – there the 5000 Series or a 2-in-1 purifier is a better fit.

Does it have a humidity sensor or app?

No. HU2510 is controlled with a button and two speeds. If you want it to hold a set level by itself or control it from your phone, look at the 4000 or 5000 Series.

What humidity should I aim for?

Indoors, 40–60 % relative humidity usually feels comfortable. With the radiators on in winter, indoor air can drop to 20–30 %. Set the level you want and let the humidity sensor do the work – above 60 % is rarely needed and can cause condensation on cold windows.

Does it get hot? Is it safe in a child's room?

No, it doesn't heat the water – moisture evaporates naturally from a wet filter, so there is no hot steam to get burned by. Still, place it steadily where children can't tip it over or pull the cord, and don't let children play with the appliance or the water.

How often do I change the filter?

Philips states up to 6 months, depending on how much you use it and how hard your water is. The replacement filter is called FY1190. A filter that turns yellowish is normal – those are minerals from the water.

How do I clean it?

Empty the water and let the parts dry when you're not using it. Clean the tank and filter about once a week as the manual describes – with water and a soft brush, and descale when needed. Never leave old water standing for days.

How fast will it arrive, and can I change my mind?

Description

A small, simple humidifier for the bedroom or home office when the radiators dry out the air in winter. Pour in two litres of water, pick a speed and let it run – it humidifies rooms up to 31 m² according to Philips.

HU2510 uses Philips NanoCloud technology: the water is soaked up by a filter and evaporates naturally, instead of being sprayed out as mist. So no vapour is visible, and according to Philips there is neither white dust nor wet patches around the unit. The water is not heated.

It has two fan speeds, the lower one quiet enough for the night (32 dB(A) according to Philips), and it switches off by itself when the tank is empty. You fill it by lifting off the top part – no small openings to fiddle with.

For you who want an uncomplicated humidifier without an app or display, for a bedroom, child's room or office.
