Birds by Toikka

Oiva Toikka created his glass birds in close collaboration with the glassblowers, inspired by nature. Since 2014 they have been blown at the Iittala glassworks in Finland.

Every bird is unique

The birds are shaped by hand, so colour, bubbles and shape vary a little from bird to bird – that is part of the charm.

Product FAQ

Does every piece look the same?

No. Each glass bird is mouth-blown by hand, so small bubbles, shifts in colour and variations in shape are part of the craft – not flaws.

How do I clean it?

Wipe with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Do not put it in the dishwasher.

How fast will it arrive, and can I change my mind?

Delivery options and times are on our Delivery page. You have a 14-day right of withdrawal and a 3-year right to complain – see the Returns page.

Description

Birds by Toikka are Oiva Toikka’s glass birds, created in 1972 with the glassblowers at the Nuutajärvi glassworks. Since 2014 they have been blown at the Iittala glassworks in Finland.

The Flycatcher is a relaunch of the original 1970s design: a small bird, 95 × 60 mm, with a simple transparent body and a beak in a contrasting colour. Each handmade bird has its own personality and reflects the light beautifully.
